#ThrowbackThursday The MY Q Lady’s Lace Collection That Proved LatashaLagos Is a Total Babe
The campaign for body positivity and inclusion in fashion scored Every. Single. Win when My Q Lady, a womenswear brand owned by Yeside Laguda approached our founder, Latasha Ngwube to take the lead in her new Quintessential Lace collection. Just to be clear, while the brand most certainly has curvy clients, they had never put out an intentionally dedicated collection to the curvy woman.
Latasha was smoking hot and some as she worked each piece with the untamed sexiness she is known for. We loved the sleek hair and makeup that allowed the clothes to speak without much fuss, showing off her gorgeous curves in each look. Tailored pants, evening dresses, voluminous sleeves were a part of the stunning editorial that set social media ablaze in the wake of its release. (We need more from these designers out here!)
The collection included 10 unique pieces that explored the splendor of lace for plus size women. The designer wrote on Instagram, “The plus-size market is my biggest and most loyal client base. Their repeat patronage and loyalty can’t be quantified. We constantly sell out plus size pieces and thought why not put a collection together. We are proudly dedicating a 10 piece collection to my beautiful lace women. I present to you my plus lace woman”.
And who better to channel “the plus lace woman” than Latasha Ngwube in all her gracefulness. Along with model Frances Igweonu, Latasha made bold statements as she did justice to the figure-hugging, curve-flattering pieces.
Each piece was inspired by the lace fabric keeping in mind it’s sensitive and exquisite nature, yet, strong and tenacious. These, according to Yeside are the embodiments of the My Q Lady. The lace woman is everything all at once yet powerfully individual without hesitation.
The collection features pieces with feminine silhouettes, body-flattering designs, pastels with almost vintage feels, delicate trims and rich dark hues that maintain the mystery without being overly elaborate. Interestingly, both women used in the campaign are of opposite sizes but each garment wasn’t just scaled up without taking shape or size into consideration. It is evident that Yeside Laguda knows her stuff and we can’t but hope that she will do more dedicated projects in the plus size space soon.
