BLK OPL! The Beauty Brand Just Got A Makeover & We Love Its New Look
It was all shades of beauty as BLK OPL (formerly known as Black Opal) Nigeria hosted Lagos’ finest make-up enthusiasts at the Lagos Continental Hotel in Victoria Island. The event was a double whammer in celebration of the brand’s transition to a sleeker, more sophisticated look as well as to introduce its all new TRUE COLOUR ULTRA MATTE FOUNDATION POWDER. The re-branding which already speaks to the next generation of beauties, features bold square compacts, bottles and tubes, all of which are emblazoned with the new BLK/OPL logo. The versatile formulation foundation powder which can be applied wet or dry and is suitable for all skin types, allowing for build-able coverage with a smooth matte finish.
The launch event was hosted by MTVs VJ K’ola, kicking off with a brief introduction of the brand and a short speech by CEO Kuddy Cosmetics, Mrs Kudirat Fashola. Kuddy cosmetics is the official distributor of BLK OPL products in Nigeria, with various outlets in Lagos and all major cities within the country.
Mr. Dheshan Naidu, a representative of BLK OPL, took the audience through the transition of the BLK OPL brand over the years and did the honors of introducing the new TRUE COLOUR ULTRA MATTE FOUNDATION POWDER. Brand Ambassadors of BLK OPL and makeup artists Tolani Aremu & Lilian Paul, were available for quick demos on best usage of the products.
The curvaceous celebrity makeup artists and ambassadors also showed their skill as they created makeup looks on 10 different models. They gave a show stopping catwalk to up-tempo music from Kennis Music’s DJ Butterr.
Speaking on her inspiration behind some of the looks, Tolani says: I wanted to showcase the versatility and coverage of the foundation, concealer and powder range. I also paired some of the looks with bold lip colors on the models to illustrate the vibrant colors within the color splurge lip line. Additionally, I wanted to represent how fantastic the finish of each skin product and powder was especially in the Nigerian climate.
And what is a Lagos party without a glass of cocktail in hand? Baileys Nigeria was present to make sure everyone had a glass of their creamy goodness while delicious frozen yogurt was served from Sweet Kiwi.
The event was well attended by various beauty enthusiasts such as Kehinde Smith, Idia Aisien, Dodos, Anita Brows, Abimbola Craig, Afua Osei, Michelle Dede, Mimi Onalaja, Beverly Naya, Chiamaka Ntia, Yewande Thorpe, Powede Lawrence, Ezinne Alfa (Beauty in Lagos) and a host of others.
