Are You The Face of #LOVEME20? Love Magazine Announces Global Search


British style magazine Love Magazine announces its #LOVEME20 model competition in celebration of its landmark 20th issue. The bi-annual magazine whose cover has been graced by A-list celebrities like Madonna, Cher, Justin Bieber and others is owned by Condé Nast the parent company of Vogue, Architectural Digest, Allure and the likes.

The magazine launch issue featured plus size American musician Beth Ditto in an iconic photograph shot by Jean-Paul Goude. Beth Ditto who has long been an advocate for body positivity, gender equality and equal rights for the LGBTQ community, has walked the runway of designers like Marc Jacobs and Paul Gaultier. In the inaugural issue she called out society for failing to account for plus size in its landscapes of “beauty and sexy”. The cover in itself was a revolt against the fashion firmament of just some eight years ago.


In the 2009 article Ditto said;

“…In a culture that debates women’s weights on a daily basis as their defining feature, well, isn’t it confounding and amazing to have an iconic figure in that culture who doesn’t have a 25-inch waist?”

As the magazine publishes its 20th issue this year, they will be selecting 20 women between the ages of 18 to 20 from which only one will emerge winner and be signed by DNA and photographed by Mert Atlas and Marcus Piggot for the special 10th anniversary cover of the magazine.
