Nigerian Plus size on air personality, Tolu Oniru Demuren has just announced the release of her lingerie line Sablier (“Sab-Lee-Ay”) which is French for ‘hourglass’. Everyone has been waiting in eager anticipation especially after she shared teaser photos of the pending unveil of the brand on her Instagram. Prior to the release, the assistant director of programs at Beat 99.9 FM shared a story on her personal journey to self-love and acceptance.
She who took a course in lingerie and swimwear design at the prestigious and award-winning London College of Fashion to get in-depth knowledge of the lingerie market, reiterated that her struggle to find brands that cater exclusively to her body size was a motivating factor in creating the Sablier brand.
The excited entrepreneur took to her Instagram to share the news, she said;
“Super excited to announce that I’ve just launched Sablier – a premium lingerie line for fuller bust women. It took a few years of blood, sweat and tears, but so thankful to God that it’s finally here!”
“A huge part of my personal journey was finding clothing, lingerie and apparel options that catered specifically to my needs as a curvy woman… It’s only natural that I take on the challenge of providing comfortable but attractive options for plus- size African women who struggle with finding brands that cater to them.”
“The journey to accepting my body hasn’t been easy. As a curvy girl, you tend to feel out of place – my body type wasn’t the hot thing back then. I just didn’t fit in”
Sablier is a brand that represents confidence, female empowerment and self-expression, especially among plus-size women. It is set to drive a message that promotes inclusivity, and change the stereotypical perception of plus-size women. Its sizes range from 34D and go up to 42J for now but there are plans to expand the line to fit every curvy woman out there. The super comfy bras are not just fancy but super affordable with a wide range of options to choose from.
In the campaign photos and video she shared, Toolz is pictured striking a pose in an animal print wrap dress with curvy models, Praise, Britney and Loveth who are wearing samples from Sablier lingerie line. The curvy models also speak on what it meant to love their body in the campaign video below. The pictures where taken by ace photographer, Emmanuel Oyeleke, make up was artistically done by Dodos and their feet well fitted into Gbemisoke Shoes.
Toolz says; “ I want ladies, irrespective of their size or body types, to be confident and love themselves, and essentially embrace their beautiful, because beauty is from within and is not dependent on what society dictates”
